Conference and holiday in Colorado

On Saturday 18th October 2008, I went to Colorado for a software conference, where I gave a few talks. Colorado Software Summit if you're interested - sadly 2008 was the last of these excellent conferences. I managed to get a couple of extra weeks of holiday after the conference, and did a little bit of mountain walking, along with a trip to Arizona to see the sights, even skipping briefly into Utah.

Keystone, North side of the valley - Sunday 26th October

I decided to have a very lazy day on Sunday. The sun was very strong, so I walked a little way up the North side of the valley, and found a large rock on which to do a little bit of sunbathing.

While sunbathing, I saw a few birds. This one was too far away to get a decent photo, but it's obviously a bird of prey of some kind.

Then I wandered up a bit further through the woods, and saw a woodpecker of some kind - perhaps a yellow-bellied sap sucker.
