The Lake District in snow with CRC at Easter

Over the Easter weekend I went to the Lake District with the Christian Rambling Club for some walking around Langdale. I travelled up there at a ridiculous time in the morning on Saturday, got four days of walking in, and travelled back in the evening on Tuesday. It snowed during Saturday night, so we woke up to a white-covered world on Sunday morning. The weather was generally good for the rest of the time, and the snow stayed up in the mountains, making for some stunning scenery. We stayed in Elterwater youth hostel.

Day one - Saturday 22nd March

On Saturday, after driving up to Ambleside and doing some shopping, we parked near Rydal and walked up to Heron Pike, then down to Grey Crag, and around under Nab Scar back to Rydal again.

Day two - Sunday 23rd March - Easter Sunday

On Sunday, we woke up to a white Elterwater.

After breakfast, we geared up, and walked to a church in Chapel Stile for the morning service before heading up the South edge of Langdale.

We then turned left level with the Old Dungeon Ghyll car park and went up the West side of Side Pike.

At the top of Side Pike, we stopped to admire the view, before heading down to the side, and around the bottom, through the squeeze, and up to the top of Lingmoor Fell. At the bottom of Side Pike, a snowball battle was waged between Jan and everyone else. Jan won.
